Miami Our City – FlickHouse Studios

Sunday, November 6, 2016

Much respect to Jose Navas for putting this documentary about the latin community and its influence toward the development and growth of Miami. As a filmmaker I understand all the time and effort it takes to put something like this together and I’m happy to see Jose and Flick House Studios putting this film out to the world for free. Not everything is meant to be sold, somethings are meant to be told.

The Mystery of the Miami Circle [Video]

Thursday, February 18, 2016

Approximately 2000 years ago, prior to the arrival of the Europeans, Miami was inhabited by Tequesta Indians. Originally they were thought to be complete nomads with no permanent homes but that was proven wrong in 1998 when archaeologists discovered the Miami Circle in what we know today as Brickell.

Thanks to the British Broadcasting Corporation and this wonderful informative documentary you are about to see, we now have a good explanation as to who/what/when/why these holes were cut into limestone at the mouth of the Miami River and Biscayne Bay.

A Piece of History – Miami Marine Stadium [9 Images]

Thursday, February 11, 2016

Over 50 years ago this South Florida landmark and icon of modern design was built on Virginia Key. In it’s days it hosted many different events such as motorboat races, concerts, and boxing matches. Then came hurricane Andrew in 1992 which caused the city to condemn the Miami Marine Stadium. Since then it has been abandoned.

My first time visiting this historic site was over a decade ago as a graffiti enthusiast. Back then there was more quality art where as now its just a bunch of tags everywhere. Nevertheless this is still my favorite forgotten spot in Myami. Up until a few years ago there was access to the roof which displays an amazing view of Downtown Miami but in order to get up there you had to climb some sketchy platform. Now that I think about it, this was the first rooftop I climbed in Myami.

For those of you interested in visiting this location, it is illegal to enter the property and I know people that have been arrested for trespassing so enter at your own risk.

The Place to Be During Art Basel is Wynwood [6 Videos]

Thursday, December 3, 2015

As you may know, for the past 7 years I’ve been documenting the streets of Wynwood during Art Basel. It all started in late 2008 during the SmokeNProfits era when I got word that there was a bunch of artist painting throughout Wynwood. From that day forward I’ve been a fanatic of Art Basel. (more…)

Remembering the Orange Bowl – 70 Years of Greatness [Video]

Saturday, November 28, 2015

The good folks at the Miami New Times published a nice article yesterday in remembrance of the Orange Bowl which was torn down in 2008. Within the post they linked to this heartfelt documentary of the stadium produced by Accord productions. Watching it took me back to the many good times I had there. They should have never tore it down. (more…)
