Krome Penit – The Insane Asylum [28 Images]

In July of 2015 the Nike Missile IFC HM-95 site which some people know as the Krome Penit or the “insane asylum” was completely torn down. It was located on Krome Avenue just south of the Tamiami Trail. The building was constructed by the army in the early 1960’s in response to the Cuban Missile Crisis. In the 1980’s it was used as a refugee camp which then converted into a federal detention center. By 1992 the facility was abandoned due to damages caused by Hurricane Andrew. Since then it became a underground playground for graffiti artist and paintballers. Some people have claimed to of seen ghosts out there.
